RIM — er BlackBerry — made me a believer again

Here’s the deal — BlackBerry 10 may not be a ground breaking OS. It may not shoot past Android an iOS in terms of features and aesthetics. It is confusing until you learn it, but what new OS isn’t?

BlackBerry 10 is a giant step in the right direction from BlackBerry (almost typed RIM there). It takes an older OS not fit for touchscreen devices and interactions and created something it could grow into. An OS it can continue to mold and introduce new features with. Instead of just getting by on minor changes and enhancements.

There’s plenty of work left to be done on BlackBerry 10, no doubt. The road isn’t going to get easier for the company formerly named Research In Motion (stupid muscle memory). If anything, it’s going to get tougher from here on out. Now that the cat is out of the bag, users, pundits, analysts and everyone else in between have seen what BB 10 is — or more importantly isn’t — BlackBerry has to continue to push to fill in the holes.

Back in May I talked about wanting RIM to make me believe again. Why I was willing to fork over money out of my own pocket and spend time away from my family just to have a chance at seeing BlackBerry 10 in person. I just wanted to believe. Again.

With the launch and subsequent reviews, posts and videos, I have to say I am a believer in BlackBerry again. I believe in the employees working around the clock will continue to fill in the weaknesses and issues with the current from of BlackBerry 10 and make it a quality OS.

I don’t think BlackBerry will make it back to the #1 spot again. But it doesn’t have to. It doesn’t even have to claim the #2 spot. #3 is a fine spot, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Is BlackBerry 10 good enough to be #3?

I think so. But what do you think? Weigh in on this GoPollGo post.
